About Black Fox Homestead
Finding the way forward. Finding it is good.

Black Fox Homestead is an independent online publication about homesteading, gardening, homegrown food, traditional recipes, raising animals, and the quiet craft of simple country living. We write for anyone who feels the pull toward a more hands-on, more grounded way of feeding a household and keeping a home.
Where we come from
This domain first hosted a homesteading journal beginning in 2012 — a record of building a homestead from the ground up, season after season. That original work documented vegetable gardens, kitchen experiments, sewing projects, small-town life, and the slow story of a place taking shape. We are rebuilding that publication for today, preserving its subject matter and its spirit while giving it a modern home.
What we write about
Our pages cover the practical foundations of a homesteading life. In the garden, that means vegetable gardening, seasonal planting, building soil, and harvesting and preserving what you grow. In the kitchen, it means country cooking, farmhouse breakfasts, baking, and seasonal recipes that use what the land offers. Around the homestead, it means raising backyard chickens and other animals, planning a homestead, and the DIY and handmade projects that turn a house into a working place.
How we write
We aim for writing that is genuinely useful — clear instructions, honest notes on what works and what does not, and respect for the reader's time and budget. You will not find filler, exaggerated claims, or invented personal stories here. What you will find is practical knowledge gathered and organized so you can put it to work on your own place, whatever size it happens to be.
