Coming Home

Once upon a time, in a tiny boot-shaped country off the Mediterranean Sea a family started a farm in a small village. They grew grapes to make their own wine and enjoyed a simple life.

They live there still.

Once upon a time, in the state of Michigan, a handsome man met a lovely lady and asked her to dance. Soon after, they married and made their living as farm hands. He working the land. She cooking and canning.

They have both passed on but the farm is there still.

Once upon a time, not too long ago, the offspring of these two families so far apart by culture and distance met, married, and declared themselves to be city folk forever.

But the back yard garden wasn’t big enough and the siren song of the land quietly started to call.

It took a few years, and ultimately the prompting of an ornery neighbor to realize they weren’t quite where they should be.

But today they’ve returned to their roots.

Today they’ve come home.
