Chocolate Pots de Creme with White Chocolate Whipped Cream

Chocolate Pots de Creme with White Chocolate Whipped Cream from Black Fox Homestead

Celebrate Valentine’s Day with  a little something sweet and simple.

Pots de Creme

2 c whipping cream

4 oz dark or semisweet chocolate chips

1t instant coffee powder

6 large egg yolks

3T sugar

Position rack in center of oven and preheat to 325.  Arrange 6 6oz custard cups or souffle dishes in roasting pan.  combine cream, chocolate chips, and instant coffee granules in heavy medium saucepan.  Bring almost to simmer over medium heat whisking until chocolate melts and mixture is smooth.  Whisk egg yolks and sugar in large bowl to blend.  Gradually whisk in hot cream mixture.

Divide custard equally among cups.  Pour enough hot water into roasting pan to reach halfway up sides of cups.  Bake custards until just set around edges but still soft in center (about 25 minutes).  Remove cups from water and refrigerate until cold.

White Chocolate Whipped Cream

2 oz high quality white chocolate

2T + 1/2 c chilled whipping cream

Combine chopped white chocolate and 2T whipping cream in a small metal bowl.  Set over small saucepan of simmering water and stir until white chocolate melts and mixture is smooth. Remove bowl from over water and cool 10  min.

Beat remaining 1/2 c chilled cream in medium bowl until soft peaks form.  Whisk in white chocolate mixture.

Makes 6. Can be made one day ahead.

    • I had wanted to make fondue but the store was out of the special cookies I like to use. I’m going to make little truffle cakes instead. Have a Happy <3 Day!

  1. Oh my!! That looks heavenly! Much nicer than the plain ol’ chocolate pudding I was planning to make! LOL!!
I’m visiting from the Boost My Blog Party! :)

  2. Visiting for the Valentine’s blog hop and I’ll definitely be back. I love our plan for creating your own homestead. We have a 2-acre patch in the SW corner of Nebraska where we’re learning about gardening. I read your “about us” page and can connect with your heartache over infertility. Our story is in the Labels section on the right column of the blog.

I am a new follower on Pinterest and Twitter (@mrschupa) and will add your blog to my reader. Hope you have a wonderful Valentine’s Day.

    • Hi Tami! Thanks for dropping by. I was interested to see that, if I’m correct, your husband is from OK! I love to read, although I don’t find as much time these days as I’d like. I look forward to following your site.

  3. Wow, that is a very tempting dessert. I know a few people who’d love for me to make this…and I probably will. I am visiting you through the BMB hop and again, I discover another blog where I feel I have a blog-friend who cherishes so many things I hold dear.I’ll be back again. :)

    • Thank you Kathy! That was such a fun hop and a great idea. I hope they do it again next year. It is so nice to meet you. I really enjoyed your blog as well. Just took a peek at your Etsy shop. Those sheep are waaaay cool. Darling!

  4. This is worth a trip across the mountain to the grocery tomorrow! It looks fabulous!
BTW, do you have a follower’s button? I’d like to follow but don’t know if the networked blogs is the same as followers…? Thanks!

    • Hi Sandra! Yes, networked blogs is the same as a follow button. Otherwise you can follow by email or a blog reader. I like Google reader. I will look into a follow button widget though since you asked. It’s nice to meet you. :) Thanks for dropping by.

  5. Hi Jenny,
