This site was joint venture between my husband and myself and started at our kitchen table one morning in June of 2012.  Our desire was to document our experiences as we transition from our home in the city to ten acres in a rural town; and to document the continuing story as we work to establish a homestead complete with a garden and  livestock.  We see the blog as a way of connecting with our family and friends, as a way of networking with others who have similar interests, and as a way of sharing what we have learned.  Our posts run the gammut from gardening and housekeeping to stories about our dogs and include recipes, information, and tutorials about what we have learned.

These posts are not meant to be read as info handed down from one who has achieved it all, but rather as experiences from someone who is still learning (usually the hard way) and shared with others who may be of a like mind.  Input, feedback, and comments are always read and appreciated.

In an effort to simplify our lifestyle, it is our hope that our homestead will someday provide a cottage industry and this site is a division of that.  For this reason some of the posts on the blog may contain affiliate links such as Amazon.com, Burpee, Park Seed, and others.  While we do benefit (a teeny bit) from purchases made through those links, we only recommend  those products we have personally used and with which we were pleased.  At the same time, it is not our desire or intention to pressure sales of any kind.  If you just want to read along and share with us your experiences you are most welcome.
